CUET 2025 New Exam Pattern By NTA
All 50 questions in the CUET-UG paper will be multiple-choice.
The level of all the questions will be based on the NCERT syllabus.
The level of all the questions in every paper of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG) 2025 will be based on the NCERT syllabus. Each subject's paper in the university entrance exam will have 50 multiple-choice questions (MCQs). The General Test, which was conducted from 2022 to 2024, has now been redesigned into the General Aptitude Test for all subjects. In the new exam format, 20 languages and 26 subjects will have MCQs, and the general aptitude test score will be the only valid criterion for admission.
UGC Chairman Prof. M. Jagdish Kumar advised students to focus on NCERT books while preparing for CUET-UG. This time, UGC has implemented a uniformity formula for CUET. As part of this, all 37 papers will consist of MCQs, and no changes have been made to the syllabus. Questions in every paper will be based on NCERT books. Prof. Kumar further stated that students who are not taking coaching need not worry. If they thoroughly read and understand the questions in NCERT books from their 12th grade, they will have no difficulty with the MCQs. Students should focus on preparing well for application-based questions.
Most Applications Expected for General Aptitude Test
Looking at the data from previous years, an average student selects 4.3 subjects. In 2024, students had the freedom to choose up to 6 subjects, which has now been reduced to a maximum of 5 subjects. English receives the highest number of applications, as marks in English are considered for admission to any course at the undergraduate level. After that, the General Test sees the most applications. Subjects such as Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics- Applied Mathematics, Biology, Economics, Hindi, and Business Studies also receive many applications. This time, the General Aptitude Test is expected to receive the highest number of applications. For 2025, papers in Entrepreneurship, Teaching Aptitude, Fashion Studies, Tourism, Legal Studies, Engineering Graphics, and 20 languages (including some foreign languages) have been removed. Admissions for these 26 subjects will be through the General Aptitude Test.
Do Not Rely Only on Coaching
There is no shortage of students who are reading additional questions and study materials at coaching centers, but experts say that the 12th-grade syllabus is the most important. Dr. S.K. Garg, Director General of Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Management Studies, says that if a student solves the problems provided in NCERT books and studies each chapter thoroughly, they will not need coaching. It is better to prepare using those books.
What Will Be Included in the General Test?
The General Aptitude Test will include General Knowledge, Current Affairs, General Mental Ability, Numerical Ability, Quantitative Reasoning (simple application of basic mathematical concepts like Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry), and Logical and Analytical Reasoning. Like other papers, this test will also be one hour long. This time, there will be no choice in the question paper, and all questions must be answered.
